A Glimpse of Things to Come!
March 9, 2008
As many of you know, we have continued to ponder the future of LA despite the desolate outlook and today, with much delight, would like to announce that an opportunity arose giving LA a chance to evolve.
Preceding Omega and I working on Lethal*Agents as Blackened-Interactive we were working together on the Source version of a well known Half-Life mod called Frontline Force, aka FLF. Since then, the FLF team has been building their library of custom content which includes player models, weapons, animations, and sounds just to name a few. They also recreated many of the classic FLF maps that captured the essence of what FLF is all about. Needless to say, the FLF team has everything needed to create a total conversion mod for Half-Life2 except for one major element... solid game code. This was a big reason the FLF team decided to put development on "indefinate hold".
Those of you that have played LA know that besides the lack of any custom content, our game-modes are solid and virtually free of any show-stopping bugs. It's also no coincidence that our multi-player game-mode, Supremacy, is a take on the old FLF style of game play. I'm sure you know what I'm about to say next... Blackened-Interactive has decided to absorb the remaining FLF team, update the LA code for Orange Box, and put all the custom FLF content on our Supremacy mode. The definitive result will be Frontline Force.
This isn't going to be as cut-and-dry as you may think as many things need to be considered moving to Orange Box, but the mighty Omega has already put an early alpha together and the initial plan is to have this all accomplished in just a few months. We have also tossed around the idea of creating a separate mod that will use the LA single-player and coop modes believably in the near future... Frontline Force: Lethal Agents, doesn't that have a nice ring to it? Wink-wink.
To keep you busy, here's some map footage of the remade FLF classic... Kezman:
